What are Toy Australian Shepherds ?

At Amadeus, we are very excited to offer toy Australian Shepherds! We fell in love with this breed due to their beauty, their intelligence, loyalty and their fun, quirky personalities.

A toy Australian Shepherd, also known as Miniature American Shepherd (MAS), is a smaller version of the Australian Shepherd breed.

They typically weigh between 10 to 20 pounds and stand around 10 to 14 inches tall at the shoulder. Despite thier small size, they possess the same intelligence, athleticism and herding instincts as their larger counterparts. They are known for being intelligent, energetic, and highly trainable. They are also affectionate and loyal companions, often forming strong bonds with their owners. Toy Aussies can be wary or reserved around strangers, so early socialization is important to ensure they are well-adjusted and confident in various situations. They require regular exercise and mental stimulation to keep them happy and healthy.

Do they shed?

Yes, toy Australian Shepherds do shed. While they may not shed as much as some other breeds, they still have a double coat that sheds seasonally. Regular grooming, including brushing their coat weekly, can help minimize shedding and keep their fur in good condition. During shedding seasons, professional grooming services is recommended.
